House of Memories App (Consultancy Project)
The National Museum of Liverpool run an award-winning dementia awareness training programme called ‘The House of Memories’. It’s especially designed for the carers of people living with dementia, whether they are professionals, volunteers, friends or family.
The challenge:
The Museum knew that supporting the programme with as much material as possible, and in as many formats as possible, was essential. Visual and multi-media aids are an excellent way of engaging people with dementia (with or without the help of a carer) but they were unsure of where to start.
The solution:
Graphix Asset was engaged on a consultancy basis to identify, plan and scope the goals and requirements of a mobile app. They undertook some competitor and customer research and then worked closely with the Training & Development Team to develop the marketing and technical brief.
The design and development side of the project was then put out to tender to rostered agencies. Graphix Asset was kept on board in an observational role to critique overall development of the app.
The outcome:
Because of the initial planning and attention to detail in the brief the Museum were able to succinctly brief the design and development of the app - the agency had clear direction and focus. This saved time and money in the long run due to reduced queries, amendments and scope creep.

The House of Memories is an amazing initiative and is now reaching out to the South East of England too.
